Quadrent Green Lease allocates 20% of returned devices to digital inclusion initiatives, focused on improving digital access and literacy for children in need.
Access to the digital world is now a basic necessity – just like water, food, heat, and shelter. In 2022, we launched a digital inclusion program aimed at addressing the 1 in 7 young New Zealanders who are digitally excluded.
Being a lessor of large amounts of technology means that we are uniquely placed to help close the digital equity gap and make a life-changing difference to some. This program plans to enable our large-scale corporate and government customers to contribute a portion of devices as they come off a Quadrent Green Lease.
Quadrent will match this contribution creating a considerable pool of high spec, high quality tech devices that can be repurposed and provided to those in our communities who need it most. Our efforts will be focussed alongside a number of large charitable organisations to help create a much more empowered future for every young Kiwi.
Their Digital Access program is a pivotal pillar of their Learning for Life program, a long-term strive to help disadvantaged children through school and onto a positive pathway with the fundamentals for a fair go.
Their Digital Access approach improves families’ digital inclusion by ensuring all Learning for Life families have access to the internet and devices as well as tech support and the knowledge on how to make the most of the technology they have.
At The Smith Family, we believe that education is one of the world’s most powerful change agents. That’s why we focus on helping young Australians to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty.
We have already distributed over 5,000 laptops to students on our Learning for Life program, to help them make the most of their education.
We are committed to ensuring all Learning for Life students are equipped with a laptop and have access to reliable internet by 2027, a necessity for a 21st century education. This partnership with Quadrent is a significant step in helping us meet that goal.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Solving a complex and ongoing problem means we need to focus on where we can make the biggest difference while supporting our partner community and their unique strengths and initiatives.
In 2023, 50 high quality, ex-lease laptops were donated by Allens and Quadrent, to The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program. This enabled digitally excluded students access to a device for their education in 2024.
Our commitment to Quadrent's Green Lease initiative combines two of the strategic pillars of our community strategy – alleviating disadvantage and promoting sustainability. We are delighted to work with Quadrent and The Smith Family as we combine our efforts to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young Australians.
